This piece poses itself as a question and as a meditation on the violence women endure every day in Mexico. The installation is based off a story from Campeche about la Virgen del Carmen (Lady of Mount Carmel), where a priest repeatedly kept finding sand under the feet of the shrine. It was believed by the locals that the Lady would leave every night to walk along the beach, so in an act of rage the priest sawed the statue's legs off.
